How to Setup E-mail for Mac

This tutorial will guide you through setting up your LinkU Mail on your Macbook OS X 10.6.7.

Steps may vary for other versions of Macbook OS X.

  1. Open the Mail program


2. On the top navigation menu, select File and then Add Account.

3. Type in your name, the email address you would like to add, and the password for that account

4. Make sure the Account Type is set to POP

5. Description: a description of the mail user

6. Incoming Mail Server: pop.fusemail.net port 995 w/ SSL

7. User Name: the full email address of the account you would like to add. Example: [email protected]

8. Password: enter the user’s password

9. Click Continue

10. If a pop-up window comes up with the message “Mail can’t verify the identity of “pop.fusemail.net” select Connect

11. If you see an error message at the bottom, disregard this, we will fix this later on. Click Continue

12. Make sure the Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is UNCHECKED and click Continue

13. Description: a description of the mail user

14. Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.fusemail.net port 587 w/ TLS or
port 465 with SSL


15. Select Use Authentication

16. User Name: enter the full email address identical to step 6

17. Password: enter the user’s password

18. Click Continue

19. If a pop-up window comes up with the message “Mail can’t verify the identity of “smtp.linkumail.com” Select Connect

20. If you see an error message at the bottom, disregard this, we will fix this later on. Click Continue

21. Make sure Take account online is checked and click Create

22. On the top of the navigation menu, select Mail, then click Preferences. In the new window, select Accounts at the top

23. On the left side, select the account you just created and click on the Advanced button at the top

24. Change the Port number to 995. Make sure Authentication is set to Password

25. Click on the Account Information button on the top, click on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) dropdown and select Edit SMTP list

26. Select the Server Name that reads smtp.fusemail.net, and make sure the Advanced Button is selected

27. Click the Radio Button “Use custom port:” and in the field, enter port 587 w/ TLS or port 465 with SSL.

28. Authentication: Password

29. User Name: enter the full email address identical to step 6

30. Password: enter the user’s password

31. Select Ok

32. Make sure that smtp.fusemail.net: [USER NAME] is selected in the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop-down

33. Click the X in the top left corner, when prompted hit Save
